A titanium roof above a vineyard. Below it, glass. Around it, the valley, the Andes and the quiet they bring.

Millahue is a valley of vines between the coastal range and the Andes. On its highest hill a single roof of titanium and bronze rests on glass, and under it the house opens on a patio with a Zen garden. The living room holds paintings by Roberto Matta and a diptych from Anselm Kiefer's series The secret life of plants. Below, in the vineyard, Smiljan Radić's winery lies in a sheet of water.

The rooms

Twenty-two rooms,
fifteen glass bungalows

No two rooms are alike. Each of the twenty-two was given to an artist and answers the valley in its own way: in colour, in material, in what you see when you wake. The fifteen glass bungalows stand among the trees on the hillside, open to the valley and the Andes beyond.

Tour and tasting

Smiljan Radić's winery lies under the hill like a white wing, a plaza of running water in front of it. Below: 327 hectares of vines in twelve valleys, harvested by hand, fermented without added yeasts, aged in French oak. Walk it, then taste VIK, La Piu Belle and Milla Cala in the cellar, by the wall Eduardo Cardozo painted.

Art and architecture

A house built around a collection.

The roof is one floating structure of titanium and bronze, held above glass. Inside, the collection is part of the building: a Matta in the living room, a Kiefer diptych in the lounge, a different artist in every one of the twenty-two rooms. The roof itself is by Marcelo Daglio.

Below the hill, Smiljan Radić's winery sits in a sheet of water that cools the cellar and mirrors the sky.
